Summary
Shane is in a post-game interview when his world stops.
He’s just answered a question about Montreal’s offensive strategy going into the game. Clean passes, avoid penalties, draw defenders wide. It had worked and the Voyagers had beat Colorado soundly, 4-1. Shane had scored two of the goals and assisted on a third.
Usually, Shane would be eager to boast about the win to Ilya. But ever since their fight- since Ilya told Shane to leave- winning feels hollow. Losing feels better, somehow. As if Shane deserves to lose after being so selfish. Ilya gave up everything for him- his home, his team, and to some extent- his happiness. Hockey. Ilya gave up hockey- good hockey- for Shane.
A ripple goes through the room of reporters. Shane swears he hears the word ‘Ottawa’ and ‘crash’. But no one is paying attention to him anymore.
“What’s going on?” he asks into the microphone, feeling strange at the role reversal. Usually, he’s the one being asked questions.
No one answers. And this time he knows that he hears the word ‘Ottawa’ and ‘Centaurs’.

Summary
“I’m not sure of the exact reasons Montreal has, but the League needs a distraction from the bad press.” Laurenti’s face twists with disapproval. “Crowell’s known to be friendly with the Morin family, they own the Metros. Crowell must have asked for a favor and who knows what he’s promised them in return. Who better to distract from a scandal than Canada’s favorite son?”
The realization hits Ilya like a punch to the solar plexus.
“They’re trading Shane fucking Hollander?” Reilly questions with utter disbelief. It takes a half second more before he follows the question with another. “We’re signing him?”

News that Dallas Kent, up and coming star center for the Toronto Guardians, is wanted for murder breaks during the Sochi Olympics.
Neither Shane nor Ilya have any idea that it will change their lives.

Shane is heavier than he used to be; his weight bears down on Ilya in a new way. He’s put on pounds of muscle since Ilya last touched him like this. It’s the same and it’s new, this body; it’s the boy he couldn’t stop thinking about when he was 18 and the man he loved enough to let go at 26 and the person who somehow always comes to find him when he’s lost.

Summary
Outside, bugs swarm around the porch light. A half-moon hangs over the dark swath of lake, spider-spun white daubed across the oil-spill surface. That perfect day on the water was less than a week ago. The scabs on Ilya’s ankle haven’t even healed. He knew the rest of their lives would be an uphill battle; he just hoped they could lie in the grass for a little longer.
There’s a hitch in Shane’s breath, a catch that brings Ilya’s attention back to him. He’s seen the ice tilt, analyzed the offense, and realization freezes across his face.
The whistle blows. Ilya’s been caught.
“You don’t want to figure this out,” Shane says finally. “You want him to billet with you.”
Last season, Ilya broke his jaw. Next season, he'll break from Boston for Ottawa and a shot at making an impossible relationship work. This season, he breaks every promise he’s ever made.
