Wait.
Either he has degenerative amnesia, or he's—
Dead.

Summary
When Hunter Thornewood unexpectedly inherits his late father's title as alpha of the strongest pack in North America, his mother arranges a six-week competition to find him a mate. Forty-three omegas from every neighboring pack vie for his bite. Hunter notices none of them—except Luke Ashford, a small, brilliant kitchen servant who walked in carrying canapés and was never supposed to compete at all.
But Hunter's childhood friend Celeste has loved him for eighteen years, and she didn't wait this long to be passed over for a kitchen mouse.
A slow-burn werewolf romance about empty hands, true mates, and the cost of telling the truth in front of every pack on the continent.

Summary
She's got her mouth open, too, ready to snap at him to leave, because Shane does not need this right now. He can come back, if he has to, when her son's less fucking vulnerable, high on painkillers and reeling from mood-swings; not that she thinks he will, which, good. Really, she's just about to, when Shane's voice sounds.
"Ilyaaaaa!" he lets out delightedly.
For another long moment, nobody moves.
Rozanov's face has contorted. His brows are furrowed and he's looking only at Shane. Is he confused? Yuna's pretty damn confused. Because–
"Il-yaaaa!" Shane repeats, loud and sounding – ecstatic, really. Absolutely ecstatic.

Summary
It starts, as many things do, slowly. He quietly stops seeing Galina. He lies about taking his medication. The medication hasn’t been helping anyway. Then it’s Shane noticing he isn’t doing well, and begging Ilya to talk to him. There is nothing to say.
Objectively, everything is fine. His life is amazing. He’s married to the love of his life, they play for the same hockey team, they don’t have to hide their love anymore. They have a dog and a place that is home. He has a family with Shane and his parents. He has friends with the centaurs and Svetlana. On paper, his life is amazing.
The thought definitively doesn’t help the guilt he feels when he holds the handful of painkillers.
Or: Ilya commits suicide. But when he dies, he finds himself as a ghost and is forced to watch Shane grapple with his death.
