Summary
The star of this room by far is the narrow, floor to ceiling tank at the very center of the lab; currently occupied by… a mermaid. It's smaller than the creature you saw last night, and strikingly less human. While the subject of Monica's research could have easily passed as someone in a costume, with pale colors and flowing hair, this could be nothing but a different beast completely.
As you move your gaze to the mermaid's face, you find that it's staring back at you with clouded red eyes.
When you're offered another chance to get out of the office and work in the field you jump at it without a second thought, leaving everything else behind for the chance of a lifetime to work alongside creatures you never even knew existed.

Pure Vanilla looks so small even after all these years. After hearing word of his friends' transformations Dark Cacao feared he would hardly recognize his companions. But all the cookie standing before him has changed is the sheer magnitude of his power. And Cacao has always thought power looked good flushed across his oldest friend's skin but this awakening of his souljam is like nothing else.
The renewed strength has touched every visible inch of Pure Vanilla. Dusted in the color on his face and tinging the elegance of his movement; even in the way light seems to glint of his golden hair where it frames his face and teases the curve of his chin. The air itself bends around him, letting Pure Vanilla glide through a room and command every molecule.
"I can tell you're staring, you know."
Dark Cacao sees Pure Vanilla for the first time since they both awakened their full power. Some things never change, but his old friend can still surprise him.

Summary
As you steadily grow closer, what you're looking at is a mermaid. Delicate looking yellow fins frame their face like flower petals, draping over each other while they're out of the water, and deep red gills fluttering against their sunny yellow skin.
A beautiful orange tail that glitters in the afternoon sun curves out beside them, tailfin flipping absently against the rock they're laying against. A bright patch of scarlet is painted over their otherwise purely orange scales, dripped across the middle of their tail and twisted around the side where you can't see. From here you don't see any pooling beneath them, but it's still so bright the blood must be fresh.
Hastily you drop anchor right where you are, close enough to see the whites or the mermaid's wide, blue eyes as they watch you approach. Not afraid of humans, even when you're arriving on a ship headed straight towards them. -

Summary
You had some errands to run in town, and since you were the only one who could leave the property, the rest of the household bombarded you with requests. Groceries for Sunspot, reading material for Fool and Misuta... You know, the usual. Expected. You're fond of them, and they of you, so it was no skin off your back to run an errand for them.
Sol, however, had made no secret of the fact that he was not fond of you, so his unexpected request to pick up a secretive package at an unfamiliar store did not fill you with confidence.
You did it though. After all, who are you to refuse a request from your "friend".
