He still wanted to shake Lance senseless. Still wanted to force every stupid self-destructive thought out of his head permanently. But not like this. Not while Lance was bleeding through half-finished bandages and barely standing upright.
“Come here,” he said more gently.
Lance looked at him warily for half a second before the exhaustion apparently won out. Keith guided him carefully down onto the bathroom floor instead, maneuvering him until Lance sat between his knees with his back angled toward Keith’s chest.
The position felt immediately, dangerously intimate. Lance’s bare back rested inches from his chest now, warm and solid and distractingly close. Keith could smell the sharp disinfectant still lingering in the air beneath the cleaner scent of soap and the faint metallic trace of blood.Or
After a mission gone wrong in all the right ways, Keith storms into Lance’s room ready to start a fight over another reckless stunt, only to discover Lance is far more injured than anyone realized. Fucking Keith was a lot like fighting with him, Lance found, and since they’d been having sex, their arguments were basically reduced to zero. They were on the same page more now than ever before. It made leading the team so much easier because when they did have a disagreement, they weren’t arguing about it in front of everyone else. Instead, they’d compromise, and then later, they’d fuck until they were finished being mad at each other.
Personally, Lance thought it was a great solution.

A pen. He needed a pen and paper. Then he could write what happened.
He gestured in the air, mimicking scribbles, mimicking a sheet. All he got in response was pitiful stares.
Lance’s heart sank. They weren’t listening. They weren’t listening.
An exchange with a cynical alien during a diplomatic mission leaves Lance unable to speak or defend his honor when he is accused of a wrongdoing he didn't commit.

“The quintessence of a Galra-human hybrid,” Keith’s fangs glinted in a bloody smile. “Doesn’t that just make your mouth water?”
When Keith and Lance are captured by a creature that can drain any being of quintessence, both go to extreme lengths to save the other. This is a story of how you can come from feeling everything, only for it to be taken away.

Summary
Keith has never really been good with words. He says what he means, and more often than not, what he doesn't mean, leading to several uncomfortable situations.
One of said occasions happens on a planet during a mission, where Keith's attempt at complimenting the blue paladin is entirely misinterpreted, but Keith isn't able to properly apologize before the mission goes south, resulting in Lance being subjected to the 'gifts' the locals possess.
So now Keith is at an impasse, with his communication skills severely lacking in the comforting department, and his growing feelings towards Lance making everything so much more difficult than it needs to be.
