Summary
Tanjiro did not want to be a demon. The idea of becoming a man-eating creature had never even crossed his mind, and if there had been a choice, then he would not have gone down this path. He did not want to kill, nor did he want to bathe in the blood of those he had killed.
But nothing was more important than his sister. If to protect his sister, he would have to become an abominable monster - then that would be fine, as long as he would not have to see her cold and lifeless, as long as he would not look at her and see a wretched corpse; because Nezuko was all that Tanjiro had left.

Summary
Tanjiro somehow persuaded Giyuu to accompany him to the nearby village to get some medical supplies for Shinobu. On the way there, they are attacked by a demon with scarlet eyes. Giyuu is done with people protecting him, and he’ll do anything to make sure that Tanjiro stays out of harms way– even at the cost of his own mortality.
