The bullet lodges itself deep in his side, and pain ripples through him like a wildfire, threatening to consume him whole, and he barely manages to stay upright. The graze of Dazai's back against his had been enough to cancel his ability, hence being unable to avoid the bullet that was aimed at Dazai from the back.
“Chuuya!” Dazai’s voice cracks, something raw and unfamiliar lacing through it. It's a sound Chuuya hasn't heard in years—panic.
