Summary
"You know, I think you're one of the most caring people I know."
Stanley scoffs, taking another swig of whatever beer Fiddleford grabbed off the store's shelves earlier on their weekly grocery run. it burned going down but he drank enough until he could come up with an answer.
"yeah right. I don't care for no nothing."
The inventor watches Stanley intently, a man he's come to know after months of working together, his eyebrows furrowed but with a soft set to his face. "than why are you trying to rebuild the portal?"

What if Stanley found out that another person helped build that portal? What if Stanley went to seek them out but they were nothing like he expected? What if while trying to get his brother back, he gains something else in the process?
What if, while Fiddleford was the middle of a mental spiral, someone was there to help him? What if instead of the constant urge to forget everything, somthing comes into his life which makes him want to keep remembering?

Qifrey, sitting on his heels to inspect the soil, looked up and blinked. "Did you have a better location in mind? You should’ve said so earlier."
"That wasn’t what I meant and you know it. Are you sure about leaving the Great Hall?"
Qifrey got up, cleaning his hands on a cloth as he went. He looked ethereal in the morning sun, his white hair glowing in the soft light and an expression on his face as if butter wouldn’t melt in his mouth. "Of course I am. My master was stifling enough and you know what I think of witch society as a whole."
Olruggio had to fight the urge to kiss his lying mouth.
It was a smart thing to say. It invited people to cut him off, to stop him from saying things they didn’t want to hear. Shut that blasphemous trap of his, Olruggio had heard more than one master say through the years. But Olruggio has been with Qifrey for too long, and was too close to him, for it to work in truth.
He just watched his friend until Qifrey averted his eyes and went back to inspecting the soil.
Neither of them said anything.
Qifrey and Olruggio build a home. The atelier, and they, have a long way to go.

The idea for the fic came to me when I was listening to Yoh Kamiyama - Yellow :)
“There’s a lot of things in this world that money can buy and silence is unfortunately one of them.” She observed his reaction, how his grip on the leash tightened and eyes dimmed. “Hey.” She reached out her hand and rubbed his shoulder. “I’m not saying it is always the same. People change, organisations and their rules also do.”
“You can’t just say that after everything else and hope I won’t think about it.”
“Listen. If you have a friend from the Order, who resembles a strawberry shortcake, you have to treat him gently. It's survival of the fittest, so you can imagine how much it costs to stay gentle in a place so strict like this.”

""Something to hopefully ease the pain.." Qifrey whispers as he runs one hand along Olruggio's cheek and sweeps the hair from his friend's forehead with the other. "Are you with the living?" He teases.
Olruggio's body seems very much to protest the action, but with great effort he forces his eyes open, meeting Qifrey's own.
All his body's prior hesitance is gone in an instant as Olruggio's eyes open wide as saucers. His face breaks out into a faint scarlet, warm to the touch and reaching the tips of his ears.
"Whooa!" Olruggio slurs, reaching upwards to hold Qifrey's face with both hands. "You're beautifulll!"
Oh dear."

OR, Olruggio is delirious and lovestruck after being sedated for a nasty burn wound, Qifrey is there to watch over him and take the brunt of his feelings

Summary
Lohen works for the police, but during one of the interrogations he oversteps and chokes the suspect. The injuries do not serve a threat to the man’s life, but Lohen’s behaviour is enough to get him a three month suspension from work. He needs to prove he is fit for the position and won’t act up again. He has to see a therapist and do some community service (work at the shelters, gardening centres etc) to amend. He doubts this would be enough to make him change, but he meets a man that truly gives Lohen a reason to become a better person.
