“What the hell was that incantation you spat earlier?” Miles asks.
Phoenix’s lips twitch.
“Limp Bizkit,” he answers. And then he adds, desperate, “Please say it. Please, Miles. For me.”
Miles cringes. But, behold, he parts his lips and delivers a beautiful, beautiful:
“Limp biscuit.”
And the laugh this provides Phoenix carries him all the way into the royal blue sky that stretches across the afternoon, where Truce calls him up and he can finally give her the news. Calm, clinical:
“I’m stuck in the land of shit and honey with Miles Edgeworth. Hold down the fort for me.”

(In Florida for a legal conference, Phoenix and Miles find their flight home cancelled courtesy of a hurricane churning through the panhandle, and thus decide to take a little road trip.)

This work is about transformation and to me is transformative. It and the author deserve so much love. I can’t words enough about it. It starts off with some excellent grade A banter and who doesn’t love a Miles and Phoenix road trip? But then oh my ducking god, it just reveals what it is truly about so beautifully and with such excellent craftsmanship. If you want to feel things, if you’ve ever been hurt by a loved one, if you want to laugh or experience Florida (I’ve never been but now I feel I might get why people live there despite the shut they have to up with there?)…if you want to feel connection and feel hopeful, please read.
I’m tired, I stayed up all night reading it, I woke up ruminating about it. I should come back and clean up this bookmark but in case I don’t, (I’m sure I will), let the record show this fic is bad ass and deserves all the love and kudos.

Summary
Miles wasn’t sure what had made him stop at the cemetery that day. He hadn’t planned it. If anything, showing Phoenix his father's grave should have been the last thing he would ever consider. Yet for some reason, having Phoenix in his passenger seat had finally given him the courage to face his father.

The the nostalgic nods to their childhood, the small acts of support, the softened voices, the banter and heh, ‘rivalry’… I haven’t been reading as many fics lately and I’ve really missed this. Kuraintrain really understands these two and their dynamic, their friendship, so well. Reading this fic felt like a really good visit with friends I’ve missed. In my eyes, this is a comfort fic.
