Summary
It all starts with a game of Never Have I Ever.
Maybe that’s not where it starts (after all, Phoenix has been in love with Miles Edgeworth for about twenty-five years at this point, even if he’s only known it for the last ten or so), but that’s where it all goes off the rails.
Midway through the game, Ema folds her arms and says with a smirk, "Never have I ever been in love."
“Ooh, that’s a good one,” Trucy says amid the mass sighing, mild complaining, and drinking. Phoenix drinks, of course, in honor of the twenty-five-year torch he’s been carrying for Miles, who will of course assume that Phoenix is thinking of Dahlia, and all will be right with the world. Except—
Miles fucking Edgeworth looks even more embarrassed than he has all night and takes a drink.
What in God's name is going on.

'The front end was crushed, the tree directly in the middle, making what looked like an incredibly morbid sandwich. All of the windows were shattered, scattering broken glass around the scene, and a deflated airbag that had made its way through the windshield flew up and down in the wind like a vengeful ghost. The smell of smoke was drifting faintly around the car, but it had mostly cleared up, which was both a relief and a terrifying indication that the car had, in fact, been there since the earthquake.'

Although… customer is a bit of a stretch. If he's feeling generous, Diego is willing to think of him as a patron, but it's a coffee shop, and customers buy coffee. Nothing like this monstrosity.
Self control, his therapist has told him, over and over. Diego grits his teeth. "I'd ask how dark you want your roast, but a fiend like you has no respect for the craft. What size devil are you downing today?"
The bane of his existence grins. They both know the answer already. "Why, I thought you'd never ask! Make that the biggest coffee you have."
