I just started reading A Softer Place to Land yesterday and couldn't put it down. I finally forced myself to go to bed, but my mind woke me up a few hours later to finish it. This was SO SKILLFULLY DONE. The different storylines, the imagery, the patience and understanding of this Nick, the endearing animals, the loving relationships, the justice . . . all were expertly crafted and engaging. 🤯

When my alarm wakes me in the morning, I know it’s going to be a shitty day.
Truth be told, it’s been slowly rolling on me, dark clouds over the horizon and it was only a matter of time before I woke up in the middle of a storm.
Nothing is really wrong, which is the most frustrating bullshit in the history of bullshit. Nothing bad has happened to me, or anyone else. There’s no reason for the torrential downpour that’ll keep me miserable and in bed all day and probably tomorrow too.
(or Charlie's having a really shitty time, but don't worry he's got Nick to come hold him through it all)
