Summary
Being the best hockey player in the world (fuck you, Rozanov) and living in a city as hockey-obsessed as Montreal makes being gay a little bit complicated for Shane - he can’t exactly go out to meet a man, not even if it’s just for sex. So when Hayden brings up this super discreet, super high profile, super anonymous sex party in New York, Shane lets himself be convinced to go. In an unexpected turn of events, he actually feels attracted to one of the partygoers and hooks up with the guy. Summary
Shane fears that the impressive amount of hair care products in Ilya's bathroom belong to a woman. Until he learns that they're Ilya's, and that Ilya doesn't just wake up in the morning looking perfect—okay he does, but not with his hair looking perfect. As it turns out, Ilya's soft little golden curls are a whole lot of work. Wanting to take care of Ilya, Shane learns the whole routine. On the days when Ilya gets close to breaking, Shane's gentle fingers in his hair make everything better.

Summary
Team management e-mails him early in the afternoon, but it’s just after helping Jackie feed Ruby and Jade dinner, when Hayden has the chance to go to the bedroom and sit against the bed headboard, that he manages to see and read it. The language is polite but friendly, and the person writing it actually identifies herself as the lady from the team’s media relationship, Nathaly, which immediately makes the exchange feel more real. She calls Hayden by his first name too, which also helps. Hayden has read some official communication before, but they addressed the team as a whole, so he knows this is different. Nathaly is talking to him to know if there’s any way he might billet for next season.

“It’s-it’s complicated.” He catches the present tense too fucking late to do anything about it, and he barely resists the urge to either groan or slip forward to start beating his head against the coffee table.
Fuck his fucking life.
“You’re still…seeing this person?” His mom asks, and the amount of control he can hear her exerting is almost painful. “Who is-”
“Yuna,” his dad cuts in, voice quiet, “maybe give him a second, yeah?”
Yeah, Shane agrees in his head. Give him a second.
Maybe give him a decade while they’re at it.
(when shane's old fake id falls out of his wallet around his parents, he has to explain that it was to book hotel rooms before he was 21)
