Ilya was used to hazing. He had been subjected to it, he had participated in it, and, as a captain, he had stood guard over the rookies and protected them from anything truly harmful. But if he had been asked, Ilya would have approved of this prank. He would have authorized it, given Cliff and Vicky his seal of approval, perhaps even helped orchestrate it.
Any other day, Ilya might have been happy to play along.
But, in perfect dramatic irony, it had not happened any other day. It had happened today. And, cherry on top, of course the rookie had to walk in when Shane was already freaking out about Ilya saying his name.

A prank-gone-wrong leads to the Boston Bears finding out about Shane and Ilya’s relationship in 2016. The day Ilya first invited Shane into his house. Right after they say each other’s names for the first time. Fuck his life, honestly.

“So,” Cliff starts. “Ottawa.”
“Ottawa,” Roz repeats, and the way he says it, half-amused, half-quizzical, gives Cliff nothing.
“It’s not Montreal.”
Roz looks offended. “Why would I go to fucking Montreal?”
Cliff shrugs, going for casual. “Montreal Girl? I thought, you know, if you ever go to Canada…”
Roz scoffs. “You and Montreal girl. You say I am obsessed with her, but is you who always talks about her.”
“Yeah, because you’re always texting her!”
“Well, I like to get laid.”
And there’s Cliff’s opening.
Or: Cliff has been suspecting that Roz moved to Ottawa for his Montreal girl for a while now. And tonight, they’re going to go out for drinks and he’s finally going to get some answers. Not even two overeager rookies are going to stop him. Except things don’t quite go as Cliff planned and Jane from Montreal is not what he expected.

Summary
Ilya shoulders his way through the bathroom's door and promptly steps over a trailing, ridiculous fucking piece of fabric, causing whoever is wearing it to bump against his back.
"What the fuck?" He snaps, irritated beyond rationality.
"Watch were you're going, dickhead." The guy spits right back without missing a beat.
He turns around, but whatever pissed off retort brewing inside his mouth dies on his tongue when he takes on the guy in front of him. For a split second, his brain screeches to a halt at the sight of Shane Hollander, except then it quickly comes to the bizarre realization that it isn't him.
There's a bewildered pout on his plump, shiny lips. He's taking Ilya in with the same cautious scrutiny, like he's not sure of what he's seeing.
"Connor?" He says, voice going slightly high pitched right at the end.
Ilya frowns. He's pissed off and nowhere near drunk enough for this.
"Who the fuck is Connor?"
