Himeko has never really been a dog person. They are loud, insistent, unpredictable and always too eager in ways she found vaguely exhausting.
She much preferred bunnies and rabbits. They were creatures that existed without demanding attention, that occupied space gently. Even cats, with their selective affection and careful boundaries, made sense to her.
They did not arrive uninvited. They did not impose.
As such, she's not really sure what to do when the puppy who ran away from home ages ago arrives on her doorstep battered, bruised and sopping wet.
