What if there was a reason Guwon was losing his powers? What if the chains of fate were much more complicated than he realized?
Guwon had always been happy to live as a demon, looking down at the folly of human insignificance, never questioning his place in the universe. But when a brush with a mortal unwittingly breaks his streak of power, he must face the question of whether his weak and insignificant love is still worth fighting for – even if it means he will be condemned all over again.
And this time, the fall will be harder.
This is my take on "beefing up the original plot" or "fix-it". Canon divergence increases as the story progresses.

The words don’t register in his mind, and he stares at her, aghast. Katara, a bad person? The concept doesn’t compute. Even when he was chasing them, part of him had always envied the ease with which she showed her goodness. All he had wanted was to be good enough, and Katara was effortlessly so. Was it even possible for him to catch up?
Zuko tries everything he can to prove to the Gaang that he's changed, that he's a better person. But the hardest person to convince, of course, has been Katara. He and his nation represent everything Katara resents, everything she's been traumatized by. How could he ever make up for everything his people have done? How can he make up for what he has done? Could she ever really forgive him?
