Jazz has been enjoying his new life as a cogged bot. No more deadly mining shifts, all sorts of new bots to meet, and he has endless options for what he can do with his newfound free time. After seeing his friend Optimus Prime begin to crack under the pressure of his new role as leader of Iacon and the rising aggression from the newly dubbed Decepticons, Jazz decides to put his newfound freedom to good use.
His plan? Go into the Decepticon base with the intention to join, and secretly pass back information to Optimus. The only thing standing in his way: A certain telepathic third in command.

This was such a rollarcoaster of a fic, I’d love to see more in this universe. Jazz leading the SpecOps in its early days, how he meets what will become the crew, and of course his future encounters with Soundwave.
Perhaps even a Soundwave POV, given that we know he knew about Jazz for some amount of time before the reveal. Why didn’t he say anything? Was it merely so he could trap Jazz more effectively, was he in denial, or even hoping to change Jazz’s mind? Absolutely love the JazzWave dynamic presented in this story overall.
The Cassettes protectiveness for Soundwave is adorable. I can imagine them meeting Jazz in the field one day and maybe getting to talk, clear some of the air. Fic where the Cassettes think this is a romcom, Jazz thinks it’s a spy thriller, and Soundwave just wants to get his work done.
10/10 fic, love everything about it.

Jazz has a few problems. Problem one, the Autobots are being poisoned. Two, figuring out who’s behind it and stopping them is proving harder than anyone expected. Three, he’s found a fix for both of those but it depends on Soundwave, the most loyal Decepticon in the whole army, helping him.
And if there isn’t a good reason for Soundwave to cooperate with him? Well, Jazz will just have to make one.
“An easy course and following winds,” Jazz says to the two aliens first, because the possibility of imminent violence is no excuse to violate social niceties with these guys. And then just for Soundwave, he says in English, “You know these guys are planning to screw you over, right?”
He steps lightly into the room, moving so casually you’d never know it puts him in point blank shooting distance of a sworn enemy.
“Hold your fire for just a sec,” he continues, baiting the hook, “and I’ll prove it.”

I love this dynamic so much. Two geniuses to recognize eachother, and are so intrigued by one another. Yet their own baggage keeps them from ever truely trusting one another. Augh it’s so good
