"Holy fucking shit! Wolvie!" Wade yelps. "Fuck, the one time I don't come armed, this shit happens! I'll be right back, I--"
"That was the last of 'em," the old man says, raggedly, breathing hard. He's a little beaten-up--he's healed everything near-instantly, of course, but Wade can still see the damage to his clothes, the patterns of splattered blood that prove he had been hurt.
"The last of who?!" Wade steps gingerly over a few bodies to get to the old man's side.
"Mutant hunters, I reckon, tryin' to take me in. Happens from time to time."
"What?! No the fuck it doesn't!" Wade feels insane. More than normal. "What do you mean, mutant hunters? This is normal for you?!"
Wade is elaborately ignored. The old man wipes his claws off ineffectually on his corduroys--there's already so much blood on them that a little more doesn't matter. "Goddamn," he grumbles, "y'know, I really liked these pants."

"Nah, that ain't right," the old man says, in apparent disbelief. "Is that why you marched in here lookin' like you'd seen a ghost?"
"No," Wade replies. "I walked in here looking like I'd seen a ghost because something way worse happened. He says he wants to meet you."
The old man's grin could be visible from space. "Well? What'd you say?"
"Before or after I finished shitting my pants?"

Wade's Inconvenient Feelings about Logan aren't going away. In point of fact, they are getting worse.
Sometimes Wade wakes up in the morning and Logan has inched closer to him in the night, so they're touching--sometimes one of Logan's whole big meaty arms is flopped over Wade's chest or stomach or back, even. Damn near a proper cuddle. And Wade doesn't move, fuck, he hardly breathes, he just lies there, electrified and tingling everywhere their skin is in contact. Scared to let on that he's awake, scared to wake Logan up and cut the moment short.
He feels like a creep. He can't stop.

Rocky makes a gesture I usually interpret as "not exactly". "Not sick," he says. "But doctors still worry. When Eridian start to make fewer eggs, this usually means laying period of life is over soon. Rocky very young for this. Rocky supposed to be in ideal time of life for laying. Rocky younger than Adrian, even." He shifts on three of his feet. Already, my mind is racing ahead, wondering -- "Doctors told Rocky to ask Grace, is this radiation side effect, question?"

He is still holding the bear when he scoots closer to Adrian, nuzzling into their carapace. It is not unlike what a pebble would do in distress. But, unlike an Eridian, Adrian opens two of their limbs to welcome Grace in for a hug.
"Thank you," Grace says, mostly into Adrian's carapace.

Adrian still thinks Grace is the softest thing on Erid. But at least now he won't be the only one.

Wade raises himself up onto his elbows, forcing his way into Logan’s bubble. He grabs a handful of dark, unruly hair in order to anchor himself. Shuts his eyes. Doesn’t overthink it. Crushes their mouths together.

Logan looked back down at his book, pretending to read, trying to ignore Wade’s red-hot, irritated gaze burning a hole in his chest.
“It’s fucking February twelfth. February–fucking–twelfth!”
“And?”
Wade was truly a relentless creature, scoffing at Logan and turning on his heel, winding himself in a little circle of rage.
“And? I gave you six whole weeks to enjoy me in my most transactional form and you haven’t even looked at what you’re missing out on. Not to mention, I spent an entire seven minutes putting that bitch together for you. I even had to venture into Al’s drawer of horrors for the pipe cleaner and not even god himself could have paid me enough to do that willingly on any other occasion.”
(Wade gave Logan a set of coupons for Christmas set to expire on Valentine's Day. Logan waits until that day to use them all at once. Cue tooth-rotting fluff. And sex, of course.)
