Appetency: Noun. An eager desire or instinctive inclination; an attraction or natural bond.
They are to marry in three weeks. Lan Xichen knows that on that day they will promise to remain together for a lifetime in front of the whole cultivation world, declaring far and wide that their relationship far surpasses that of normal brothers. He knows that the promise will still garner shock and confusion from the cultivation world, whispered in the shadows because it long ago fell out of the range of acceptable topics to gossip about.
He knows that the promise is unnecessary, ultimately; they are already everything to each other, and neither of them will let go easily. Their relationship is easy and natural as breathing, each of them tipping headlong into each other without a second thought.
