He had to find purpose for his life; he had to make everything worth it by building a life worth living. He had to push forward and forge a new path into the wide openness around him. And he had to do it while carrying the mistakes of his past, the great missing of him and Loki, and what could have been. Mobius knew those memories would always be there, trailing him in the shadows of horns.
Like horns. A dry laugh heaved its way from his throat. He sounded like a lovelorn 15-year-old.
God, this existential crisis was making him melodramatic.

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Mobius.” Loki finally looked up, ruby-red eyes gleaming. “We both know Ravonna is just looking for an excuse to prune me.”
“Then don’t give her one,” Mobius urged. He didn’t like to think about what Ravonna’s reaction would be if she were to walk into his frosted-over apartment right now. “You can control these powers, Loki, I know you can. You just need a little practice.”
“I have no desire to practice,” Loki gritted out through clenched teeth. “I’d rather be locked inside one of your memory prisons than confined within this grotesque form.”
Or, Ravonna deprives Loki of his Æsir glamour after a routine mission gone wrong. Mobius picks up the pieces.

Summary
Dreams don’t happen in the TVA. Or maybe they do for other people. They do have that nightmare department a few wings away. Dreams have never happened for Mobius, though. It’s a concept he likes to think about sometimes, the idea of closing his eyes and seeing something else behind them while the mind turns off for a few hours to reset. Loki never talked about his dreams, but used to talk about the concept of dreaming to Mobius, describing how it feels in detail. Mobius likes details, he’s always been detail-oriented, so he likes to hear about how it feels like quicksand when you run in a dream and how your brain invents its own set of rules for reality each time you close your eyes. It’s a fun concept.
Whenever Mobius leaves the TVA, takes a trip down to his timeline and avoids the street he lives on, he stays in a run-down hotel, just so that he could say that he did.
He dreams that night.
He wishes he didn’t.

Mobius had never thought of himself as religious, not really; but now that his faith in the Timekeepers had been shattered, he found he desperately needed something – someone – to believe in.
He believed in Loki. He always had.
Or, Mobius is imprisoned by a sinister alternate TVA and prays to Loki for help. Loki hears him.
