Summary
"Who are you?" They both say in unison, Kaveh exclaiming in slight panic, and the other boy monotonously. Kaveh straightens up, trying to ease the shaking within him, a little bit embarrassed he was freaking out while the boy, probably younger than him, was as calm as could be. He clears his voice, trying muster up as much bravado in his chest so his voice doesn't betray the trepidation he feels.
"My name is Kaveh. Do you… live in this house?" He asks the boy, trying to gauge any semblance of emotion on his blank face. The boy seems to think for a moment, a moment that seems to drag on for an eternity, before he responds, "I am Al-Haitham, and…I don't know anything about this house. I just woke up here."
After they fight over chores, Kaveh wishes to himself that his relationship with Al-Haitham could be as simple as it was back when they were younger. The universe decides to have some fun in how it grants that wish.

Summary
Carefully tearing open the letter, he slides the hard cardstock out of the envelope. Kaveh's heart pounds against his chest, threatening to rip through skin. He unfolds the letter and only reading the first sentence his breath is ripped from his throat causing him to choke on spit.
Kaveh receives news of his mother's, Faranak, passing. He is quick to blame himself. Alhaitham is there to catch him as he falls, reminding him that he is only human and someone worthy of love.

Summary
Alhaitham slammed Kaveh’s door open - though he regained a fraction of his senses as Kaveh shot upright and summoned his claymore with a distressed shout, bracing to face an intruder. Panting, Alhaitham leaned against the doorframe and attempted to choke out an apology... but the deep inhale he drew in that should have supported his words instead transformed into a low, primal groan as Kaveh’s natural scent washed over him.
Oblivious with carnal desire, Alhaitham barely even registered Kaveh’s movement as he slowly rose from his bed and stared blankly at Alhaitham - first at the top of his head, then somewhere behind his torso. “Um - hi, Haitham. Are you... okay?”
“Me - I need - smell -” Alhaitham grunted disjointedly.
Frowning, Kaveh gingerly lifted a hand toward the top of Alhaitham’s head - but his palm never reached its destination. Before he could stop himself, Alhaitham had snatched Kaveh’s wrist and pressed it firmly to his nose.
Lost to sudden, overpowering instincts, he inhaled deeply and dragged his tongue absently along Kaveh’s skin as his lips ascended his arm, cradling it with both hands like a precious artefact.

Summary
It had been two hundred thirty-six days since Kaveh had seen another human being. In fact, he may never see another human face ever again, except for the ones building up against the wall on the floor below him, dozens of rotting corpses— Lurkers, he called them— stacking against each other just to claw at the coarse red brick.

“Hi!” Kaveh exclaimed with a smile, looking way too happy for a man about to kill the already dead, before jamming the axe into the head of a Lurker to his right, blood splattering on the brick.
“What the fu-” The man started.
Kaveh gripped his blood-streaked axe, “My name's Kaveh, what’s yours?” his breath was ragged. Across the lot, the man stood grasping his bat in a braced position, looking at him as if Kaveh himself were a Lurker, with a hint of confusion and a bit of disgust.
“Alhaitham.” He answered with heavy breath.
OR
Haikaveh zombie apocalypse au with a sprinkle of plot and mystery as Kaveh looks for his mother after her ambiguous disappearance.
