    Bookmarker's Notes

    Chapter 15

Amazing fic! I’ve never encountered one that explores this more realistic age and consequences of Severus’s time in Azkaban. Even though he’s a skilled Occlumens, it’s hard to imagine that nothing would affect him after such prolonged exposure to Dementors, as the author suggested here.

I love everything that has been added to his healing journey. While many tend to focus on how he could have better navigated his path to redemption, I feel that someone so young, after making so many decisions that ultimately led him to a dark place and being under a high level of ‘dependence’ or ‘control’ from others (like his alliances with Voldemort and later with Dumbledore), needs, above all, to learn how to free himself from those ties (as much as possible) and start doing things that will help him heal, both physically and mentally, and in this fic, financially.

I initially enter in this out of curiosity for the ship it’s tagged (first time I've heard of it), plus the ‘Severus Snape needs a hug’ tag (which he really did need, especially in the early chapters). But I became completely hooked on all the situations that have been occurring: the reasons why Severus can’t leave his teaching position, his projects to make himself safer, his passion for ensuring no child suffers what he suffered, his time as a nurse and the professionalism with which he does it (even though sometimes he wishes he were somewhere else), his assignment to the Longbottom case (I screamed a little when it happened. I hope he continues to make progress, Neville deserves to at least be remembered by his parents), him having to live with the stigma that much of the magical community has against him, but still managing to open himself up (a little) to make new friends and people he can trust. It's simply amazing, I hope the author can continue the story in the future, their writing it's so good!
