    Summary

“Find Medusa?” Percy spluttered, trying and failing not to sound indignant. “Nobody wants to find Medusa. You run into Medusa while trying to retrieve your uncle’s stolen lightning bolt and then mail her head to the gods after she keeps talking about how your eyes are like your father’s.”

From behind him, Piper raised a single finger. “When you mail what to whom?”

Percy glanced over his shoulder to give her a shrug. “Don’t worry about it. I was twelve,” he said before turning back to where Gabe was still fighting against the ropes binding his hands together. “Do you have any idea what to do with him?”

Nico leaned over, craning his neck to better peer at the hot sauce that still stained Gabe’s face despite the years of statue-ification. “Um, we could see if your dad wants to turn him into a fish or something?”

Percy grimaced. If Gabe Ugliano was a fish, then he’d be forced to hear the man’s voice in his head for years to come. But also, he could maybe mount him on a wall, so perhaps it wasn’t an entirely terrible idea.

    Or

Medusa’s sculptures are mysteriously coming back to life. Percy doesn’t think murder is an unreasonable action given the circumstances.

Lila nudges her coworker. “That’s her, the lady I called Charybdis.”

Bennett squints as a pretty brown-haired woman walks in pushing her own cart, her toddler already seated in it. The kid is shaking their fists cheerfully while she nods along to whatever they’re saying. She sees them, smiles, and waves.

    “That's her?”

    Summary

"Thank you," Percy said, accepting the tea gratefully. He wasn't a big tea person overall, but his stepmother had a very good knack for it. Godly power, or whatever. "And thank you for not hating me anymore. I know you aren't thrilled about my existence-"

"No need to thank me for not being Hera," Amphitrite dismissed. Percy took a sip of tea. "That is what you meant, isn't it?" she asked, raising an eyebrow. For once, Percy learned from his mistakes and stayed quiet, though he did give her a bashful smile to confirm the sentiment. "Hm. Well, either way, I owe you thanks. Not many children would agree to spy on their father for me."

Percy put the cup down. "I'm not spying on him," he reasoned. Amphitrite scoffed. "I just happen to be in many of the places he is when he's in the mortal world." A long pause followed, and Percy rolled his eyes. "Yes, he was seeing a mortal woman. Her name is Lea."

"You owe me twenty of your mortal dollars, child."

Percy bitterly slapped the paper bill on the table between them.

    Or

Amphitrite has an odd quest for Percy. Strangely enough, it might be the only quest Percy has actually enjoyed.

Walt smiled at her. “Not that’s it’s, like, an issue. I just- you’re mixed, you know.”

She nodded again, suddenly tired of this conversation. “I know,” she repeated. She squeezed his hand. “I’m totally aware that I, the biological child of a white woman and a black man, am mixed race.”
