This was most likely just a scare tactic, encouraging people to marry now before they were forced to marry someone they didn’t choose later. Even if it wasn’t, the purebloods still had a strong enough hold on the Ministry that the law wouldn’t be passed. Right?

5 years after the war Hermione finds out her life is falling apart by two articles published by The Daily Prophet. One with her boyfriend Ron Weasley kissing another witch, and another detailing a proposal for a new law to force Muggle-borns to wed into Pureblood families. Hermione is matched with the Malfoys, and it seems too cruel for it to be a coincidence. -

But he’s come back. And he smells like home to her, but to him, she must smell awful, like stinky socks, maybe? Because of the way he looks at her, it’s like he’s struggling to breathe, and he’s irrationally angry.
She remembers the letter he sent to her years ago. An apology for all the harm he caused her. She had only responded six months later when she was drunk and alone.
And he responded, and she replied, and on it went. So, no. They haven’t crossed paths in person, but they have shared letters over the years.
And the scent of his letters always smelled better than any alpha or person for that matter she’s ever come across.

An Omega's heats will only get worse and more frequent, while an Alpha loses his control completely and is launched into a rut which affects not only his body but his mind.
The Ministry launches a program to help deal with the Alpha/Omega problem in the Wizarding World. They offer the chance for relief without admitting to your designation. A matching system where an Omega can use an Alpha to see her through her heat and an Alpha can use an Omega to keep his sanity. The best part is it is completely anonymous, the matches are decided based on mutual attraction to each other's pheromones, and a potion prohibits the brain from recognising your partner.
Hermione Granger has never been with an Alpha, her heats are becoming unbearable. Draco Malfoy begins to lose control of his body in his fight against his own designation. Ultimately they surrender to the program, knowing they have to face the inevitable lest they lose their own or take someone else's right to consent.
