Summary
It’s been 12 days since Charlie received the letter. It took him four days to open it, and an additional three to read it. He’s memorized the letter, every word, but he’s compelled to read it one more time. He knows, intellectually, the content of the letter, understands that Baz is expecting him to answer, but he can’t comprehend, emotionally, certain words on the page— leaving New York, home to England, have something for you, say goodbye.
Charlie pulls his knees into his chest and wraps his arms around his legs, the letter dangling precariously from his hand, and looks down on the harbor, watching the waves crash along the beach.
It’s been 245 days since he packed up his belongings and left Basilton Grimm-Pitch—strike that—Tyrannus Basilton Grimm-Pitch. Two-hundred-and-one days since he last saw him at The Rabbit Hole, the world’s most divey of magical dive bars, looking as beautiful and cool as ever. And five days after he learned the love of his life (unrequited) was removing himself from Charlie’s life for good, going home to jolly old England.

Summary
It’s not the most embarrassing situation I’ve ever found myself in, but it’s still well embarrassing. Might even be in my top five, up there with the time I spelled my shirt and trousers off in Ms. Possibelf’s class, leaving me only in my pants, socks, and trainers. I’m not nearly as starkers this time around, but I still feel naked, emotionally speaking.
I’m standing in the middle of the clearing in the Wavering Wood on a makeshift dance floor surrounded by magicked fairy lights while possibly the most depressing song I’ve ever heard rings through the clearing. I’ve been deserted by both my girlfriend and my nemesis, and everyone is watching my next move.

Summary
Simon Snow is standing on a sidewalk in the East Village looking directly at me with a soft smile on his face.
It’s snowing, and the flakes are landing in his auburn hair (it’s exactly as I remember it, short on the sides and back, long curls at the top cascading over his eyes) and glistening on his shoulders. It’s a beautiful sight and too much to take in. I close my eyes and count to 10. When I open them again, he’s gone. I exhale. (I didn’t even realize that I’d been holding my breath.) Figment of my imagination then, which doesn’t make me feel much better. I haven’t had a vision of Snow like this in ages. I think about him every day (I’ll never stop thinking about him). Simon Snow will always be a part of my heart, of my soul, but he’s not a part of my life any longer.

Summary
“Baz! I’ve been waiting for at least 20 minutes. Can you please hurry up?” I shout to the bathroom door.
No response.
I shouldn’t be surprised. Not only is Baz notoriously particular when it comes to his appearance, but he’s also playing The Cure at top volume. When I knocked on the door earlier, he refused to open it or turn down the music, mumbling a response about getting in the mood for the evening.
The thing is, I’m not sure if I’m in the mood for this evening (no matter how good Baz looks or how loud he plays his music). Baz is taking me clubbing (yes, clubbing, which means dancing, which means disaster for me). And I don’t think I’ve been this nervous since I went to the Leaver’s Ball last May.
For some reason, he thinks it might help me. Me. The person who can barely shuffle along with a slow dance. My therapist agrees with him, thinks trying something new that doesn’t involve thinking will be good for me. Maybe they’re right, but it doesn’t make me any less nervous. (God, what are they thinking?)

He can’t help but let himself be overcome with gratitude.

Summary
Nancy Wheeler wasn’t sure how she found herself in her current situation—awake before dawn, lying in the arms of a sleeping Jonathan Byers. Jonathan is her friend, not her boyfriend. That’s Steve. And Steve doesn’t know about any of this.
