It keeps being easy because II makes you laugh so hard it feels like fireworks, because when you pick his brain he almost always has a thoughtful answer, because he listens to you with sincerity and interest, because he is as patient as he is stubborn. Because his buoyant soul lightens the ironclad weight of your own.

“Ok.” Ivy downs his pint and points a finger firmly at Three’s pointy nose. “That’s too far.” He watches as Three scowls at his own drink. “What is this, exactly? I’m always happy to have a pint with you, but you’ve been being a bitch all morning. If you’re gonna be a twat, I’m going back to the bus.”
Three glares at his drink and Ivy frowns. “Alright, fine,” he says, planting his hands on the table to rise to his feet.
He’s halfway up when Three mumbles, petulant and quiet, “I want to go home.”

When Ivy looks up from his phone - he was trying to distract himself, looking at lip jewellery - he’s greeted by a man in a mask, his pale mouth the only thing Ivy is able to see of his face, and now he suddenly understands all those other comments. More importantly, he remembers one in particular:
"vessel can come across as a lil weird, but he’s a chill guy! great piercer, wonderful tattoo artist, have no idea how he works through the mask, but he always does a great job. i highly recc going to his shop, the vibes are excellent. i go there to get all my stuff done, and his boyfriends really nice! you’ll get over the mask."
Yeah, if the mask wasn’t doing something for Ivy, maybe.
