The logical course of action would tell him to wait until summer, when the aches and pains were nothing more than a phantom, but the more satisfying conclusion held his interest. Four months—then he'd settle what he came to this graveyard of a city to do. It would be more satisfying in winter. A bookend to the life of Jason Todd, a cremation that he would rise from the ashes of. As who, he wasn't really sure.

The king, armoured in gold. His Kingsguard, all in enamelled white scale. The armies that had gathered beneath the golden stag banner.
They rode to war again.
……………………..Or Joffrey is the Perfect Prince Sansa was promised.

Where others see a bastard conveniently tucked away at the edge of the world, Jaime sees something else: the last chance to keep a promise he failed once already.
All he has to do is stop Jon Snow from throwing his life away on the Wall.
Luckily, Robert’s oh-so-clever order to “survey” the damn thing gives Jaime plenty of time to try — and more than enough time for duty to turn into something far more dangerous.
