To have a soulmate, one could argue you needed a soul in the first place. Soulmates being possible for yokai was a rather big thing to some.
To beast yokai, they didn't care. More philosophical types might have conversations about what exactly a soulmate entailed for a yokai, but most beasts agreed that it was pretty simple.
