Summary
The detective stepped off the train and into the set of what an Old-Worlder might've called a 'spaghetti western'. Sandrock. From the crumbling, sun-weathered and sand-beaten architecture right down to the errant tumbleweeds, the place was on the verge of becoming a ghost town. It looked bleak. Then again, when the world was black and white, things tended to look that way.
Solving the mystery of Sandrock’s disappearing water was supposed to be the final case before taking a well-deserved vacation, and things were starting out great—that is, until an unfortunate accident completely derails the investigation, forcing the detective to lie low until suspicions blow over.
While she waits and plots the downfall of the forces bleeding Sandrock dry, there's plenty of other small-time cases to keep her occupied and plenty of shady characters to throw more obstacles in her way…

Summary
After some well-earned time in prison (and therapy), Pen is heading back to Sandrock, baby! Is it a good idea? He doesn’t think so, but he also doesn’t have any other good options. Getting a second chance, he knows there’s a lot of work to do convincing everyone he’s not the same villain that was previously escorted out of town in chains.
Things are different now, though. The love of his life is married, his job as Sandrock’s protector belongs to his old nemesis, Logan, and there aren't many job openings for ex-war criminals, so he's relegated to doing odd-jobs around town to scrape together a living until he’s given a new job—a contract to protect a wildlife biologist researching Sandrock’s monsters. What he expects to be an adult baby-sitting job turns out to be much more exciting when he finds himself catching feelings for the incredibly serious and awkward woman he now calls his boss.
With potential romance on the table, things start to feel like they’re finally going his way! That is, until his past with Duvos returns to haunt him and the ones he loves…

Summary
"Prospective applicants must be willing to endure unforgiving and hazardous living conditions" Sandrock’s job posting proclaimed in bold letters. The clear warning to applicants was precisely what drew Kat’s attention to it in the first place; even hazardous living conditions were an improvement to the near-impossible living conditions she’d endured in the Peripheries. Starting over with nothing doesn't concern her, but the prospect of being near people after so many years avoiding them does. Unfortunately, all the Old-World books she discovered painted a vivid picture of the life she was missing out on, and now she’s determined to face her fears and experience the things she read about.
Harsh as the Peripheries were, Sandrock seems to have a vendetta against her. While she struggles to survive the challenges it throws at her on top of her daily struggle to integrate with society and conform to its rules and expectations, she starts to develop romantic feelings for the town’s mysterious and taciturn doctor only to realize that human relationships are extremely complicated—especially when outside influences like a crushing workload, other peoples’ feelings, and politics get in the way.

Summary
Sandrock should have been an easy posting. It's a sun-bleached town full of dust, gossip, and routine patrols. But Pen’s orders get complicated when his favorite builder keeps showing up in all the wrong places and looking far too innocent doing it.
This is a slow-burning true enemies-to-lovers Pendemption fic that is now complete!

Bookmarker's Notes
The romantic tension built up between Joanna & Pen is perfect and the angst in between is a series of sucker punches to the heart (in a good way).
The plot follows the game but has exciting twists that kept me on the edge of my seat, Jo's backstory is interesting and tragic, and Pen is lovably scary.
It was fun to read and had the added bonus of good book-quality writing!

Summary
Worn down by a hellish 5 years in Sandrock, Wren, the builder formerly known as Lucy moved to Atara in the hopes of escaping her past.
In Atara, she can be a nobody again: not the star builder with the weight of keeping Sandrock afloat on her shoulders, not the hero who defied the might of the Duvos Empire and lived to tell the tale and most importantly, not the woman who unwittingly fell in love with Pen, the war criminal who destroyed any chance she might have had of a happy life in the town she once called home.
There’s just one major flaw in Wren’s plan for a fresh start: whether she likes it or not, she belongs to Pen and he’s not done with her, not by a longshot.

Of all the things that Pen had wanted to achieve in Sandrock, getting trapped here for all eternity, was not high on his list. In fact, it hadn’t been on his list at all.
How had he found himself in this situation? Pen had no idea.

As Pen attempts to fight his descent into madness, he finds help in an unlikely source. Despite being the cause of nearly all his problems, the Builder may just be the one person who can help him.
She’s already brought Sandrock back from the brink of ruin countless times. Can the Builder help Pen to fix the broken mess that is his life?

Bookmarker's Notes
The humour tickles me in ways no story has done before. If that's not enough, it's heartfelt, spicy, and emotionally devastating. It's the hot sauce I obsess over and pour on all of my meals.
I'm so in love I'm going to reread it once I stop crying about it being finished.
