Summary
It was the middle of the night, though maybe it was closer to morning now? He’d been sitting there for a long time.
The floor of his loft was cold, even more so near his giant window. The city below him was rushing around as usual, LA just never stopped. For hours he just sat there, pressed against the glass, staring down at life continuing on without him.
He spared a thought to that for just a moment, he could allow himself this. If he were to just disappear without a trace, nothing but his physical belongings remaining, would anyone grieve? Of course they would, to an extent. They’d mourn the Buck they used to love, the Buck that didn’t destroy everything, their imaginary Buck. Some may even cry over the man they wished he was. But would anyone truly miss him?

Summary
Robert Nash was a worrier by nature. He worried for himself, he worried for his friends in AA, he worried for his team, he worried for that Sergeant Grant who always seemed to turn up at the right time. It came with the job description, he was responsible for a group of adrenaline-junkies willing to throw themselves into danger to save another life.
He worried. A lot.
With Buck? It was different, it extended further than his ability to perform his role or the connections he made in his life, he worried for the kid generally all of the time.

Bobby doesn't understand why he cares so much for Buck and why it feels so different but so familiar, he begins to understand when he realises how few people Buck has looking out for him, how small his support system is. Especially when he finds out through unfortunate circumstances that he's Buck's emergency contact. -

Summary
If Buck’s being completely honest with himself, which he’s not, he really should have seen this all coming.
Seven months ago, in the slap bang middle of winter, his loft lost heating. It wasn’t terrible, he spent so much time at Eddie’s or Maddie’s that he barely felt the effects. Maddie on the other hand was totally infuriated at his landlord. Sure, LA didn’t get particularly cold, but he was injured and needed to stay warm.
Six months ago, his water stopped for a whole day because his landlord fucked up trying to do maintenance by himself.
Four months ago, his rent got a hell of a lot more expensive, despite the fact that he was living off of sick pay.
Two months ago, he got kicked out of his loft.

Or a post-lawsuit fic where Buck gets kicked out of his loft and feels he has no one to help him because he's upset everyone in his life (P.s. Eventually it turns out he's wrong).

Carter. In the fetal position on his side beneath a thin hospital blanket, hooked up to monitors and oxygen and dialysis. Small. Sick.
Frail.
He turns to Chuny, the nurse who conveyed him here, and searches her face for answers. She must not have any, because she merely squeezes his shoulder and gives him a small, sad smile.
“Look after him, yeah? I don't think anyone else is coming.”

**
There are so many things in the trauma room explicitly grasping for Kerry's attention. The patient on the table, yelling out as the team tries to keep him restrained. The monitors attached to his chest, wailing and flashing their discontentment at an abnormally rapid heart rate. Every few seconds, one of the nurses shoots her a question about the dosage of haldol required, or whether she wants hard or soft restraints, or her opinion on the cause of the man's obvious agitation: psychoactive drugs, maybe? A head injury? Infection? Plain old ETOH?
As she turns her mind to each of these things, though, she has to consciously force it away from what it really wants to monitor. John Carter.

Following his return to work post-stabbing, Kerry notices Carter isn't doing well.
