What a strange concept.
Connection.
They had never felt it. Never been understood. And no one had even cared enough to try.
Until… you.
Sometimes, they couldn’t take it. How could you look at them, right in their optics, and say they were lovely? How could you look at them with a smile, a real, genuine one? Not the shudder of disgust that seemed to be the default while looking in their direction. How could you ask their opinion? They are not people, yet you treat them like they are. Why can’t they get enough of it?
It’s mortifying, almost. Yet… they can’t seem to let go of how sweet it feels, now that you’ve given it to them.
"If we want the rewards of being loved we have to submit to the mortifying ordeal of being known" Aka: dca x reader slowburn where you end up knowing them so intricately, that they do not need to say a word. Knowing that when Sun’s hands fidget subtly he is nervous, even if his faceplate doesn’t show it. Being able to gauge Moon’s mood by simply knowing that if he grows a little too still, something is wrong. Summary
In this AU, just after our escape from Lily Lovebraids, you re-group with Giblet, Poppy, and Kissy. Staring at Poppy's cracked face, something in you snaps. No one will find happiness down here of any kind should things continue as they are. And if what Giblet says is true about the poppy gel, crashing a train into The Prototype won't do anything but waste time and effort. So, you pitch a new plan—one that, while risky, you do believe could work.

The arcane blight has reappeared in the fields, which means another villager is to be sent up the mountain to appease the mysterious dragon that lives there. Unfortunately, it's going to be you.
Yet...once you get up there, the dragon, Caine, is not at all what you'd expected. He's...silly, which is not something most people would dare to call a dragon. With his seemingly limitless ability to conjure, he summons up adventures and puppets to "help" you live out your wildest dreams...whether you want to or not.
As you begin to grow tired of these adventures, you're visited by Abel, one of Caine's creators whose soul is now trapped in one of the puppets Caine uses for his adventures. He's a bit odd, but most wizards are. Besides, having another human companion after so long helps steady you, and you find yourself growing more patient with Caine...and more fond of Abel.
