Fíli lived his life by an old dwarven proverb: when a fool drops a treasure, a wise man picks it up (it sounded better in the original khuzdul).

Bella Baggins never quite fit in the Shire. Perhaps she was made for the mountains, instead.

Beware: Maegor with teats has begotten Aerion the Monstrous.

Prince Aerion Targaryen once drank a cup of wildfire, convinced it would make him a dragon. It made him a corpse instead—briefly. Fate (or the gods, or some bored Valyrian demon with a taste for jokes) spits him back into the world generations earlier, reborn as the twin brother of Prince Jacerys Velaryon, son of Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen.

    He isn’t a dragon. Tragic.

Still Aerion decides to do what he does best:

    Cause problems on purpose.

You know you should address this: this need to be something groundbreaking to someone. To want someone to be this obsessed with you, no matter how sick that someone is. You know you would have gone to the police if your stalker was a sleazy, weak-wristed man from the pub. You would’ve moved houses already, changed your name and closed your social media accounts, quit everything if your stalker was small and ugly and weak.

But now that you know he’s relatively good-looking, does something dangerous and has a lot of money, and looks like he could fuck and fight half the city by himself, you’re not in that much of a hurry to go to the authorities.

    Summary

History remembers Rhaenyra and Daemon Targaryen. History remembers all the steps and all the years of their ungainly dance. History remembers how, in the end, their blood always warmed the Iron Throne and heralded in the Song of Ice and Fire. It is known.

It is not known, however, what would have happened if their dance had no missteps, if their union had come through earlier, and if their hatchlings took flight near the same time as the Greens. It is not known, either, what would have happened if all of their children were not simply children, but blood-of-their-blood from the future, from the far past, and even from a world gone by. There might still be a Dance, though probably not the same Dance. And in the end, those fit to remain shall remain, and those who are unneeded shall not be kept.

    Mostly Bookverse. Crack Treated Seriously.

    Summary

"We're going to be alcoholics by the time we're thirty," Sokka sighed.

"You think we'll live to be thirty?" Zuko asked, honestly thrilled. Sokka had pretty good instincts. Perhaps Zuko should reevaluate his long term goals. He could start by having long term goals.

A more likely alternative was that Sokka was just a hopeless optimist. It just went to show, you never truly saw another man until you stood shoulder to shoulder against a fleet of war balloons intent on raining death upon the city you loved.

Zuko was just a normal guy with normal interests. He liked theatre, burglary, crotchety ostrich horses, watching the Blind Bandit crush her opponents in a glorious display of skill and violence... just your standard banished prince things. It wasn't his fault he kept stumbling into rebellions and uncovering long-buried secrets. Fine, maybe freeing the prisoners was on him, but he was completely innocent of all other treason. Zuko was his father's loyal son. He'd never betray his nation.

    Or:
Uncle Iroh took a more creative approach to fostering Zuko's appreciation of other cultures. Now it's everyone's Problem.
