This is the Blessed Realm at the end of the Years of the Trees; The Noldor stand divided between the two eldest sons of King Finwe in a schism stretching back to the founding of Tirion. The Teleri have constructed their greatest vessels, and have begun to consider turning their attentions back to starlit Endore, while the Vanyar hold firm to the Valar. All the while Manwe, King of Arda, knows that his brother Melkor's sentence in the Halls of Mandos is nigh at an end, and looks to the Allfather for a sign.
And across uncounted time and space, a grad student trying to squeeze a nice time out of a research trip to Cape Verde finds herself tossed right into the thick of it all. Illuvatar works in mysterious ways.
