Summary
In Lumiere Gustave lives in the shadow of his cruel father, who takes credit for his groundbreaking engineering designs and holds his sister as hostage to ensure his cooperation.
As he moves through life lonely and depressed he meets a young, stuggling artist named Verso. As Gustave gets closer to Verso he finds himself wanting more than just the young man's drawings. And Verso... Verso want's a life he feels he can't have. But he wants this life so badly, if only he can survive long enough to get it.

Summary
Then Verso felt it, a strange pulling sensation, not quite in his foot but through it. Like something was being drawn out of him, gentle and careful.
The sensation intensified, and Verso watched in fascination as faint tendrils of color—his color, the gold of his chroma—began to drift from his skin toward Monoco. It moved like ink in water, curling and flowing in patterns that shouldn't exist in the air but did anyway.
When the light faded, there was a man sitting in front of him.
A naked man holding Verso's foot with hands that were now flesh instead of wood, skin tanned and weathered and very, very warm.
"Holy shit," Verso breathed.
In which a lazy afternoon leads to new discoveries.

Summary
In 1903, a twenty-four year old Verso Dessendre goes to a bar to prove to himself that he isn't gay. When he instead gets taken under Gustave's experienced, deeply slutty wing and ridden to within an inch of his life, he is not exactly inclined to complain about this.

"He allows himself to drink in the rare sight of a relaxed Verso, expression slackened, the tension he is always carrying in his shoulders dissipated. His lips are slightly parted, a strand of hair that has fallen into his face being ruffled with each quiet exhale. Gustave wants to kiss him so badly. Wants to dig his hand into that gorgeous hair, yank him to standing with a tug and pin him against the wall, a leg between his thighs and his mouth against his ear as he takes him apart over and over again."
Verso is determined to run himself into the ground for the sake of absolution. Gustave refuses to let him and uses whatever means necessary to remind him he doesn't have to.
