The first time Kakashi finds out Obito is still alive ends in a fight in Kakashi’s living room.
Obito is smiling. He looks almost exactly the same as he did the day Kakashi thought he died, if not just a little older. A little rougher. Kakashi doesn’t mind. He can look anyway he wants. Obito’s still his. Still has that thing that no one else does.
“There you go. You’re so good, so pretty.” Obito’s hands tighten and pull his head slightly. He feels warm in a way. Obito’s hands are warm. Everything about him is warm and comforting. Kakashi wants to just melt into it and let Obito take care of him.
“I want you to come with me."

You ask me of all this and still argue with me over leaving this town.” He laid back down, Obito careful in moving him to take the last of the cloth that will separate them, both now bared to the other finally. “How can you say all this knowing I’d give you anything you’d ever want?”
Kakashi stares back up, unashamed eyes roaming over all the new places to memorize. “Because I know you’ll still love me regardless, wolfie. You’d set the world ablaze if I asked.”
“And will you?” He moves from his original spot to make himself more comfortable between his legs, kissing over a knee. “Will you ask me?”
Or what happens when you're life has no purpose but to bleed out, death following along like a stubborn shadow. Until you are with him, with the love of your life who all but sees truly not a platter of virtue for others to taint, but to fill with the most human thing you've ever witnessed: love.

Without Obito he had no one to pull him out of his head. He has Rin, yes, but Rin is a different person entirely. Kushina suspects what Kakashi felt for Obito was something that he could never feel for Rin.

Or Obito used to be an idol in a group with Kakashi and Rin, but after an accident he goes to the US to live a normal life. Kakashi thinks he's dead, but keeps sending him text messages and one night calls.

In their first life, Hatake Kakashi believes that he is the cause of all of Uchiha Obito’s misfortunes. If they hadn’t met at all— Tobi would have lived a better life, not like this, drowning this fake world under Infinite Tsukiyomi.
So Kakashi turns back time to prevent the world's destruction, and give Uchiha Obito everything he wanted too. “Here damn. Here’s your perfect world— Rin’s alive, you’re Hokage, the village loves you.”
Kakashi succeeds, he paid his debts to Tobi. This entire world is his apology to Tobi.
Then Kakashi walks away, leaves the continent, and builds a new life where the past can’t reach him.
