Summary
The morning after that night in Karai Bari, when Miss Nami learned that Crocodile had fed Luffy in the night, she had covered a laugh behind her hand and said, “Well, enjoy reaping what you’ve just sown, buddy.”
He’d just given her a flat, unimpressed look. “All I did was make a few extra of the sandwiches I was already making for myself. That hardly seems like the sort of action to invite consequences, even where Straw Hat Luffy is concerned.”
But she’d just grinned and swanned off, leaving behind a smug, “You’ll find out,” as she sent her captain off to find the rest of their crew.
Luffy, excited to see Crocodile again after bonding with him on their visit to Karai Bari, launches them into the jungle, where the pair have to go back the long way. While their crew search for them and Luffy has a grand adventure in the jungle, Crocodile decides this is a great time to have an existential crisis about the baby he left behind.

The wind picked up. Not gradually, as wind should, but all at once—a gale that hit the Sunny from every direction simultaneously. The ship groaned, tilting dangerously to port. Luffy stood at the bow, his hair whipping in the impossible wind, his eyes bright with something between excitement and determination. "Everyone hold on! We're going through!"
"Through what?!" Usopp demanded. "There's nowhere to go through!"
"Through everything!" Luffy's grin was manic now. "This is just another adventure!"
"Your optimism is going to kill us!" Usopp wailed
But Luffy wasn't listening. He was already moving, his body stretching and warping in ways that only Gear Five allowed. "Everyone! Get behind me!"
"What are you going to do?!" Jinbe demanded.
"Punch it!".
"YOU CAN'T PUNCH LIGHT!" Usopp shrieked.
And Luffy, Luffy wasn't listening—
"—CHAMPION BAZOOKA!"
His fists connected with the beam of light.
And the world exploded

At that, Adorno’s expression shifted into a peculiar blend of amusement, apology, and unmistakable mischief.
It was the exact expression that always made Varka wary because, for all his benevolence and chivalry, Adorno had a talent for being deeply unpredictable when he wanted to be.
“I may have made you a target,” Adorno admitted, his tone far too casual.
Varka blinked, his brain struggling to process the words. “You did what?!"

It's not the ever present ache of his missing eye that used to follow him every waking second, nor the quiet underlying sense of dread that had never left him, cultivated by his own design to keep the silvertree roots at bay before the medics at the healing spire has cut him open and removed it with a precision no one thought possible. No, this was an entirely different sort of misery, one that was so mundane it bordered on comical in contrast to what he had endured.
Qifrey, quite plainly, is sick.

Summary
Your pulse thrums under your skin as you look at him. His lips are slick with spit and bruised from your teeth. Your lips sting from him, you’re surprised he hasn’t drawn blood yet. ‘Yet’ might be the key word here if the way he’s looking at you means anything.
His pupils are blown wide, a look in his usually blank eyes so disconcerting that a flash of nervousness bursts under your skin before it tangles with the heat low in your stomach. Lohen looks excited in the breathless way you’ve seen him one other time after he had come back to the city with blood on his sleeves. He had shrugged your questions off then.
Lohen has that same look in his eyes now, his smile a little too wide to be comforting. This is why you don’t like him. He’s weird. You don’t think you’ve ever wanted anyone more.

Varka snorts. “I’d have thought that would give you some common ground with ‘em.”
Lohen wants to pinch him, but his arm won’t move.
“And maybe you’ve got that much in common with Mondstadt, too,” says Varka, “because we need you. So you have to survive this, alright?”
Lohen doesn’t actually want to die, he just really, really, really wants his subordinates to live. Sometimes that means standing between them and a heaving, snarling beast and letting it do its thing.

Klee giggled before turning to face him, "Is big brother Lua okay? I'm finishing the new dodoco I wanna show to mama!"
Lohen patted her on top of her hat, smiling, "Yeah, he's okay now. Don't give him that much potion in the future, 'kay? He might finish it all in one go because he doesn't discipline himself."
He heard a petulant "Hey!" from Illuga's direction, but he decided to ignore that, with Klee nodding, "I will! I've finished the blueprints just now, look!"
Illuga has the nastiest migraine, slowly coming to life. Luckily, when there are no dodocos present, his beloved duo make for wonderful nurses.

Varka felt his jaw tighten, but he buried the reaction before it could reach his face.
“Here is what is going to happen,” he said, keeping his voice calm and level. “I am going to set you down, and you are not going to stab me.”
The boy stared at him.
Varka waited.
The boy continued staring, darker and harder this time, as though silence itself had been sharpened into a weapon.
Varka exhaled through his nose. “That was the part where you agreed.”
No agreement came.
Of course it didn’t.
Varka glanced briefly toward the starsilver shard, then back to the boy’s face. “Fine. Since we are negotiating in silence, I will take anything that is not immediate violence as a tentative yes.”
The boy’s eyes narrowed by a fraction.
“Good enough.”
Or:
Varka finds a mint-green murder bunny abandoned on Dragonspine and, against all common sense, decides to adopt him.
NB: Only Lohen is younger than in canon here. This is purely for plot reasons. By plot, I mean I like the thought of all the knights trying to rein in one feral gremlin.
