If everyone actually believed Ryland Grace was from the future, things would probably be going a lot better for him.
Unfortunately, his foreknowledge of the explosion that would have killed Shapiro and Dubois has made many people believe that he was behind it. Opinion is divided over whether it was a deliberate terrorist attempt, or if he's simply lost his mind.
One thing is for certain however, Rocky is alone out there in Tau Ceti. And Grace can do nothing to save him stuck inside his cell.

Summary
When Grace and Rocky are forced to head to Earth instead of Erid, Grace is expecting Stratt to still be around, doing what she does best: ensuring the world doesn't end.
Instead, they return to a world where no one will tell him about her, and he's left to assume she's dead. What he discovers is much worse.
He thinks there's a part of him that still hates her, but there are some things that you shouldn't even wish on your worst enemy, and he doesn't think Stratt is that.

Summary
I lived with this hunger long before the Hail Mary. This is nothing new. I’m fine.
Right up until Rocky asks another question.
“When last time you touch other human person skin, question?”
Oh. Oh no. “When I… a few days after I first woke up here.”
Rocky starts to relax for a split second, but then tightens when something occurs to him.
“Grace crewmates dead when you wake up. You said this, statement. You not even know your own name, remember nothing, see dead bodies, confirm?”
I nod, because if I open my mouth I will gag.
“When last time Grace touch ALIVE human person, question.”
I swallow thickly. I don’t answer aloud because I know Rocky can hear the hitch in my breath. My stomach churns with fresh bile. He senses my vital signs tick over into stress patterns and goes very, very still again.
“Grace. When last time, question.”
I clench my jaw so hard my temples ache, and beg him with my eyes to just stop.
“Grace. Please say not when… when Evil Stratt humans put you to sleep.”
I can taste grass.

We both know that they are not going to sleep. We both know that the moment they go still, they will be dead. And I will be alone. But I won’t say that, and they won’t say that, even if it’s the truth.
“You…save Erid,” they say.
Not a question.
I will be the last Eridian on our ship. I will be the last hope.
Or I will die. Just like every other Eridian has died here, and will eventually die on Erid, because we failed.
I shift low, close to where my last friend lays. “You sleep, I will watch,” I tell them again.
And they go to sleep.
And they never wake up again.
Rocky loses everyone on his crew.

No matter what Grace tries to tell him, Simon is very sure that the man is divine in nature. It just makes sense.

Simon winds up in The Enclosure, naturally. Grace is super down to have human company on planet Erid, but he really wishes someone would have given him a little bit of warning first. Especially about Simon’s religious cult upbringing — if he had known about that, he maybe could have planned a better-worded greeting that wasn’t basically, “Be Not Afraid.” He really set them up for failure with that one.
