“Well, if we used the Origins mod as it is now, and I chose to be Elytrian- gods can you imagine? I’ve never even met one! Anyway, I’d be a merling with wings. Without my conduit charm I wouldn’t be able to walk on land, much less fly. Or like, if an Arachnid became an Avian, everything they ate would give them indigestion! But if you apply the suppressors to stifle your existing traits-”“You’d be able to essentially swap one set of traits for another.” Scott looked at him with wide eyes. “You think someone could pull it off?”
“Well, I think *you* could.”

“There’s been- a lot has happened since last time. If I may ask, how much do you know?”
Scott grimaced a little, not quite willing to admit how most of what he could piece together had come from rumours and vague information. “Not really much if I’m honest. I spoke to Wil a couple months ago and he mentioned something about Tommy and Tubbo falling out?” That was quite the shock to hear, and was also his biggest concern with team making. If that could happen, what else had unfolded in the months after the last championship?
“Oh!” Dream sounded relieved, “You don’t have to worry about them, they made up a few months ago. It’s a bit more,” a pause, “Spread out. It’s a long story, but the just is that there was corruption in our world code, glitching in an entity that… affected a lot of us, psychologically, I mean.”
Scott found that he was not thrilled by his theory being confirmed. World corruption was something that regrettably happened quite often, but it was usually quite minor, and experienced admins learned how to manage it with time.
Ah.
Dream, Scott suddenly remembered, was not an experienced admin.

Summary
Harry is doing his best to enjoy his summer holidays with Dudley, despite his aunt and uncle's best efforts. He, Ron and Hermione, are about to start their third year at Hogwarts, with new subjects and a new defence against the dark arts teacher – and an old friend of Harry's father and godfather. But there is all that mess to sort out with Pettigrew on the loose and Harry's godfather being searched for by the aurors. When Harry gets to Hogwarts, the atmosphere is tense. The dementors are guarding the school, his movements are supposed to be closely monitored, and the focus of the aurors' search is still on Sirius. Perhaps Harry could point them in the right direction...

As usual, Merlin has utterly failed in keeping a low profile by inadvertently getting himself dragged into a mess of a situation that appears to have something to do with a seemingly unkillable snake man, a toad woman, an order of phoenixes, and a boy named Harry Potter who, he quickly finds, is equally bemused by his current predicament. When he discovers how lost the boy is, he resolves to help him and his friends get rid of this dark lord--as well as their malignant (and worse, ineffectual) new teacher.
