She settled, to put it bluntly. Chose the safe option.
And sure, he gave her her daughter, and she loves her more than anything... but that doesn't mean she loves Milhouse.
Maybe there was a brief time, near the beginning. When they were just young adults messing around.
But once it became something more permanent... the good times were gone.
There wasn't a specific incident that caused her to snap. Milhouse didn't wrong her or anything.
It was a slow fuse that had been burning ever since they got married... And it had finally burnt out. She just couldn't take it anymore.
One day, she dropped everything, and drove to her parents' house in a daze, desperately seeking guidance. She didn't even call ahead.
