“The kids, I take your kids,” Ilya clarified, gesturing between them. “How long will you be gone, a week? Two?” He leaned over, sorting through the other cart without permission to look at the snacks in comparison to what he already had at his house.

He was barefoot, his hair slightly damp and his clothes casual. Sweatpants and a white T-shirt that clung to him after a shower.
From the kitchen, David heard his sons’ voice ring out, too. “What do you mean partially?” Shane responded, gesturing at his phone as Ilya showed him something on it. “That’s exactly what I told you.”
