Venti contemplates the merits of making the colorful collection of fine china float in the air. Sure, it’d cause a disruption in the restaurant, but wouldn’t it be fun to see the cups spin around and around and the intricate brushstrokes come to life? Fish swimming, the sun rising, the people beginning their days.
When his eyes rove back to the man across from him, Venti drops a fingertip down to the edge of his teacup. Perhaps later he will make a spectacle and fool of himself. Right now, he’s too sober.
“A favor?” Venti repeats, brows lifting, finger pressing down harder to the edge, “From me?”
in which zhongli asks venti to accompany him to a fundraising event, venti finds it too comical not to agree, and then things fall apart (and rebuild) from there. or, in other words, your typical fake-dating fic.

“Venti,” Aether tries again, wetting his lips. “When Zhongli lost his Gnosis,” he says and the words are so carefully chosen that it arouses suspicion in the former Anemo Archon, “he seems to have lost something else.”
“His dignity and self-respect?” grumbles Venti, unhelpfully.
“Is he always like this?” asks Zhongli, plainly.
“Oh, you trunkless legs of stone, did I strike a nerve, did I —” starts Venti but then pointedly clamps his mouth shut. A cold chill races down his spine. “What did you mean?” he asks instead. Swallowing down a lump of nerves, Venti continues, “You know I’m always like this, blockhead.”
or, zhongli loses his memories temporarily after giving up his gnosis and the traveler brings him to mondstadt so venti can pick up the pieces. era-long misunderstandings come to the surface and venti learns the meaning of 'always'.

“Where am I?”
Izuku stopped, turning to see the stranger pulling himself up to sit, keeping the blankets around his waist, hand at his heart. He didn’t sound scared at all, or even nervous. No doubt, he felt the presence of his wolf, which must have grounded him; she perked up, ears rising at the sound of his voice. Izuku moved swiftly to his side, wanting to check for any residual damage.
“My hut,” Izuku answered. “Here.” He poured a cup of tea, then passed the bowl to the man who took it without question.
“Well, I figured that,” the man replied. “But who are you…and where is this?”
“Midoriya Izuku. Hosu. That is, I’m Midoriya Izuku, and we’re in the village of Hosu.”
“Hosu? Never heard of it.” He took a small sip of the tea. “I’m Bakugou Katsuki.”
“And what on Earth were you doing out in a blizzard, Bakugou Katsuki?” Izuku asked, sitting on the edge of the bed. He put a hand to Bakugou’s forehead, surprised by the softness of his hair as he brushed against it. Bakguou didn’t shy away from the touch. Izuku stopped short of pulling back the blankets to check his legs; his face grew warm at the thought.

“GET OUT! I WILL TAKE YOUR—”
Zhongli glares. It stops Venti in his tracks immediately.
“Oh, hey!” Venti greets amiably, a huge grin on his face. “So, did you sell the house?”
His scowl deepens. A beat of silence passes between them.
Venti merely shrugs.
“I did say I would test them.”
(Zhongli is just a real estate agent trying to sell the house of his possibly-Snezhnayan-royalty client. Venti is the ghost haunting the house.
They get along like a house on fire.)
