Summary
Elizabeth and Evan go to daycare, what could go wrong?
A lot of things, apparently. Elizabeth is adopted by a gaggle of fellow eight year old girls, and there's a boy who won't keep his dirty hands to himself. When being polite doesn't work, and being rude doesn't either, Elizabeth takes a page out of the family book of problem solving. She'll show him why touching what's hers is a bad idea.

Summary
It turns out that being wired into giant war machines doesn’t play nice with human brains. The Earth Mechanical Defense Force, or EMDF, learned that the hard way when their pilots started going… neurotic, let’s say, after a few missions.
The obvious solution to that problem was to simply wire the pilot into their mecha permanently, that way their mind wasn’t being strained by the constant in and out. Unfortunately that strategy backfired and the pilots started going neurotic much, much faster, and this time they were giant and made of metal and much harder to put down.
So, the obvious next step would be to pull the plug on that idea and go back to the drawing board, right? No, that’s ridiculous, the next step was obviously to simply…
Make the mecha forget they’d ever been human in the first place.
Somewhere along the line someone should have pulled the plug, but they’d already invested so much into the project, and you know what they say about sunk cost fallacy.

Flighty. Energetic. Never sits still. Everyone knows that Jazz likes to fidget. Prowl thinks it goes deeper than that.
AKA: You know that class at Stanford where students build a chair? Prowl would get an A.

Summary
Jazz should have waited. He should have retreated and called for back-up. He should have left Prowl alone to hide behind his rocks and lick his wounds.
But this was Prowl.
His Prowler.
He'd come back from the grave.
----
After an operation goes horribly wrong and Prowl is presumed killed in action, Jazz begins to slowly, reluctantly move on with his life.
On a routine recon mission, Jazz comes across the very mech he's spent ages trying to mourn. Yet, Prowl is different. He doesn't speak. He doesn't question. All he does is hiss and growl and stare, cautiously, as Jazz tries to bring the Prowl he knows and loves back to him.
AKA: A stranger comes home wearing your dead best friend's face.
