There’s a table in the corner. Three framed photos and a sign: In Memoriam.
Kelly’s is the photo in the center of the table, forever frozen at eighteen. Her sardonic smile and ripped jeans and heavy eyeliner. Sam can still feel Kelly’s arm around her shoulder. Smell her breath, alcohol and pot, and her sweet perfume, as she whispers in her ear, “Let’s go.”
Or, Sam returns to her hometown for her ten-year high school reunion. It feels right that someone should be there, for Kelly. To remember her the right way.
