"Eyelash," Hawks explains, retracting his hand, molten gold eyes pouring into Dabi's own.
Hawks stares into him, unblinking, expression unreadable. Dabi can't breathe, feels dizzy under the scrutiny. Hawks looks down briefly as he slides his free hand onto the top of Dabi's thigh, then peers up at Dabi through the filter of his eyelashes. Dabi's lungs are already having issues, but then the hand on his thigh squeezes and his brain stops working, too. He feels a weak, strangled noise escape his throat.
Hawks grins.
Dabi should have maybe thought this through.

Perplexed to distraction, Dabi watches Hawks fold his tan flight jacket in on itself several times until it's a tightly packed square. Then Hawks leans back in, lifting Dabi by the hips and shoving the jacket underneath. It props Dabi up at an angle and his legs splay open in front of Hawks. The position leaves Dabi feeling horribly exposed even with his pants and shirt still on.<

It's wraps, gang 😭Unprivating because I want to say that despite not being any closer to being a switch shipper, I did enjoy reading this. I don't think I read the bottom Dabi scene the first time I read (or any other times I may have reread) and honestly if I had read it then, I don't think I'd have been able to properly appreciate it for what it was. I think I might have had some internal misogynistic-patriarchal notions about gender roles (which, admittedly, I still struggle with). I love how Dabi was portrayed here, kind of awkward and defensive and pathetically whipped for Hawks. Talking about internal misgivings, that dude has some serious soul searching to do about his sexuality because I promise you, he is NOT straight. They're kind of gay for each other, and really, at the end of the day, that's all that there is to it. To reiterate, I am no closer to being a switch shipper than I was before, just that I've dismantled my preconceived ideas that if my top bottoms, he's less anything. Being a switch shipper is a gift I have not been blessed with, unfortunately. Once again, a banger, jihnari. Thank you.

Edit 7/27/26: there's something so sad about this ship and I think jihnari captures it so well. They can't be together, not in this world, not with how it is or how they are. If I were in a mood I could see myself crying from the unfairness of it all. How unfair for both of them, born completely opposite but of course the sickness of the world discriminates no one. Fuck man. I just want them to be happy but how could they, feasibly? Fuck bro.

Jihnari, oh, jihnari. The bangers you wrote.... Sigh, the scene were Keigo holds Dabi's face and Dabi /just let's him/??? I'm actually dying, what the fuck? Screaming into an abyss, what am I going to do with them??? "What are we" ahh pair. Sigh. Oh, Keigo, oh, Keigo. I can just imagine what Dabi was feeling the entire time having a suddenly unguarded Hawks smiling up at you like you. I don't know why I didn't see it the first few times I read this. The reason Dabi let Keigo just trample through all their boundaries was because amnesiac Keigo didn't have the inhibitions that normal Hawks would have. He wasn't faking anything, he wasn't Hawks to Dabi, he was just Keigo. Oh my god. What am I going to do? Sigh, I love them so much.

I can't believe I never left a bookmark when I first read this bc I swear to got I was EATING THIS UP. This fic is a rare type of delicious I rarely find in fics.
