After the first time, Ilya stays the night at Shane's apartment. In the morning there's a knock on the door...Yuna and David are here to take Shane to brunch.
Ilya never imagined Shane would invite him along...or that Yuna would become his sponsorship agent, or that Jackie Pike would catch them, or that David would clock them...An AU starting from the first time and continuing through all their relationship building, including alternative versions of The Cottage, Ottawa, etc. You'll laugh, you'll kick your feet, you'll awwww. Shane knows his mother would love him if he left the Metros, but he also knows that he could never give her a reason good enough for him to do so. She'd have an excuse, have a reason, have a way to make any event be something he could handle or deal with. They could probably make him commit murder, and she'd brush it off, let alone if Shane finally got tired of the weirdly racist and definitely homophobic comments that got made daily.

Jane (21:23): Come over?
Ilya stared at the message. Rage swirled in his stomach - that Shane would run out on him like that, spend the next two months shoving his fucking girlfriend in Ilya’s face, and then text him like none of that had happened. Like none of it mattered.
Mixed in with the anger, though, and threatening to overwhelm it, was the hot burn of shame. Because Ilya was already texting back okay and putting on his shoes. Because he was fucking pathetic, and couldn’t resist.
