“They’re looking to give Sunday a bride.” Welt finally blurts, and Caelus’s heart sinks even further than it had before.
Caelus had never felt so terrified. Had he heard Welt correctly? The Family was looking for a bride? For Sunday of all people? Their maniac priest? The irony of it all would’ve made Caelus laugh if he wasn’t so horrified.
Caelus was afraid to ask the only question that seemed important, but the words came tumbling from his lips before he could even take them back or process the information.
