“Can you find me another servant?” Xie Lian blurts, interrupting. “I need to get dressed, and someone needs to help me with my robes.”
He watches as Feng Xin’s face morphs from concerned to indignant almost immediately, and it would be amusing if Xie Lian wasn’t so aware of his own state of undress.
“I can do anything Mu Qing can do,” Feng Xin humphs, grabbing Xie Lian by his shoulders, pushing him in front of the mirror.

Xie Lian didn’t seem injured, but he looked— tired? Sad? Flattened, but not literally. He’d looked like that ever since Crimson Rain burnt himself up, but— this was more flat than usual.
It was instinct to look for threats, even when you knew that it was not anything physical.
“I was just visiting my parents,” Xie Lian said, with that automatic smile of his that didn’t reach his eyes properly. It always made it look like he was sympathising with you for your loss.
Feng Xin learns what happened to Xie Lian's parents.

Feng Xin is so surprised that his pencil actually skids across his paper as the words leave Xie Lian’s mouth. “What?” he demands, scowling up at Xie Lian. Surely, he had not heard what he thought he heard Xie Lian say.
Xie Lian tilts his head to the side. "I know it’s very sudden, but I was wondering if you would kiss me?”
Xie Lian asks Feng Xin if he can show him how to kiss someone. It only escalates from there.

When Feng Xin went back to his room after training tonight, he was not expecting to find an omega in pre-heat on his bed—much less the Crown Prince.

And yet, despite all odds, curled up in the middle of Feng Xin's bed—in the middle of a nest made from spare blankets and pillows and Feng Xin's robes—is his Crown Prince, smelling strongly of plum blossoms, warm sugar, and pre-heat pheromones.
He's sleeping soundly, his hair down and dressed only in his thin (very loosely fucking tied) inner robes with his arms are wrapped tightly around one of Feng Xin's own inner robes. When Feng Xin notices that Xie Lian's delicate face, soft with sleep, is pressed right against the collar of his robes where Feng Xin's woodsy scent and alpha pheromones lingers the strongest, it takes everything in him not to pounce on the prince right then and there and bite him.
Feng Xin nearly chokes on his tongue, nearly falling in his haste to back out of the room.
