Summary
Zuko nearly died after the Agni Kai with his father, so Iroh took him to a Fire Sage temple and prayed for mercy on him. Agni blessed him, and he left soon after, not to hunt for the Avatar, as his father "requested" but to avoid being used in war, as Ozai was sure to do upon the discovery that he'd been spirit-touched.
He went to the Sun Warriors, where he learned how to hone both his firebending, and how to use the powers given by the blessing. Add to that a dragon, and then he left for the Earth Kingdom "to find his destiny."
And then the Avatar comes back and he helps him and his friends steal from pirates, unknowingly of course. It's just all downhill from there.I couldn't write a summary if my life was at stake. Also story title from the Mitski song, 'Heat Lightning'

“No!” He shouted, knowing that even as he pleaded, it was useless, as the sand benders were getting far too close, “I’ll come back, help you—”
But Tenko cut him off, raising his voice into a shout loud enough so that he was sure that even the sand benders could hear, “Long live Fire Lord Lu Ten!”
The other solider echoed the same sentiment, although he turned then so that his eyes met Lu Ten’s as he said it, “May his reign finally bring an end to this accursed war, and our nation can finally live in peace.”After surviving what should have been his death by falling into the Spirit Library—and seven years into the future—Lu Ten meets children heading straight toward what he believes is an active war zone.
Changed by the siege and the words of his dying soldiers, he is determined to end the war they died for.
But first, he has children to protect.
It’s hardly been a day since he’s met them, and already Lu Ten knows that he would do anything to keep these children away from the war, even if one of them is the Avatar.

Summary
Whatever your soulmate writes, you can read on your own skin. A bond always connects four people. The “perfect” bond, they say, links one person from each of the four nations.
But the Air Nomads are gone. No wonder Zuko’s bond doesn’t include one.
It’s a shame there isn’t anyone from the Fire Nation, either.
Or: Zuko, Sokka, Suki, and Yue are soulmates. Zuko ignores the bond. Then, Yue learns who their missing soulmate is, and Zuko decides Sokka and Suki must never know.

Sokka didn’t think he’s ever see the dragon who’d traveled with them on their way to the North Pole again. But here he is in Ba Sing Se! And good thing too, because with Appa missing, the Gaang needs cheering up.
Zuko is just trying to get by working in Pao’s tea shop. His whole life is tea and Druk and Uncle. He’s bored out of his mind.
But a toddler dragon armed with a tea coupon is about to change that. Zuko and Sokka have no idea what they’re in for, but thanks to Druk’s intervention they just might find Appa — and each other!
