This is their first real fight since they got together, and Dean feels so horrible he can hardly stumble inside and chug a glass of water.
“I thought you were angry,” he murmurs as he hears Cas appear behind him, exhaustion lining his voice and padding the alcohol. He should’ve stopped at the first drink. He should’ve stopped at the second. He definitely should’ve left the bottle with more than half an inch of amber liquid swirling in the bottom.
“I am mad at you,” Cas says slowly in the way he does when he’s trying to say something important and doesn’t want to mess it up, “but I still love you and I don’t want you to go to bed without making sure you know that.”
or, dean fights with cas, gets some much-needed comfort, learns something new, and makes up with him, in that order
