Plato tells of soulmates, of beings with four arms and four legs and one soul, split apart by Zeus for fear of their sheer power, forced to search for each other for all eternity. Harold’s never given the concept much weight, until Root tries to force her way into the emptiness he has in the very core of himself and he realizes that she can’t, because it’s already overfull. Or, Finch isn’t a princess and John isn’t a knight, but he’ll slay any dragon to get him back because neither one of them can do this without each other. That’s what partners do. That’s what soulmates are. Reese/Finch.
