Summary
"What if I wanted to meet him, not as a cop," Malcolm inquires, the beginnings of a plan forming in his head. Not necessarily a good plan, but a plan nonetheless. "But as a potential client? Would that work?"
Though Malcolm keeps his eyes on Nico, he's acutely aware of the way JT's head whips over to him, eyes wide and mouth agape. Regardless of how things play out with Nico, he knows that the car ride back to the precinct is going to be interesting. He also knows he sure as shit needs to talk to Gil before JT has a chance to.
"You lost your fucking mind, bro?" JT attempts to whisper, leaning in towards Malcolm and angling himself away from Nico in a failed attempt to keep the question private. Unfortunately it comes out far closer to a growl and quite a bit louder than the man intends.

Summary
"Malcolm, I'm so sorry," Jessica whispers, the genuine sorrow in her words biting through the speaker.
"It's not your fault, Mother," his mouth moves on auto pilot, and, though he means it, his thoughts are a million miles away. He gets lost in the darkest corners of his mind, imagining how Gil would have felt, scared and alone, as he was bleeding out on the floor of Endicott's manor. How terrified he must have been as he was dumped into the trunk of a car, knowing he was going to be disposed of like so many others who had ended up on the wrong side of Nicholas Endicott. How heartbreaking it must have been to think that he'd never get the chance to meet his daughter.

Summary
He should have seen Paul waiting for him. Should have blocked the punch that connected firmly with his jaw, throwing him off balance and disorienting him enough for Paul to maneuver him exactly where he wanted him. Should have never, never, let the other man get the upper hand and trap him in that turnstile.
As the bars slam against his back and force him up against the metal guards in front of him, he has a moment of sheer panic as he feels the cool metal digging into his belly, violating the sanctity of his child's home.

Summary
Suddenly he's on the floor, staring up at the ceiling of the warehouse, his body beginning to convulse as the venom pumps through his veins. It feels like fire spreading from the wound, flames licking up his arm and bursting into his chest. The pain punches the air from his lungs and he can't seem to suck in a breath to replace it. And through it all — through the blinding pain and convulsing muscles, through his jaw clenching so tightly that he can feel a piece of his tooth chip off and fall to the back of his tongue — he has one singular thought.
The baby.

Summary
As Malcolm heads towards the street, he loses himself in thoughts of the future. He knows he needs to tell Gil about the baby — the man deserves to know he's going to be a father — but he thinks he can probably hold off another month. Maybe even two. He needs to put a little more space between their one passionate night together and the life they'll need to navigate as co-parents. He's not sure his heart can handle anything sooner.
That plan, though, is shot to hell as a warm voice calls out his name.
"Bright."
"Gil?" He looks up, shocked, like he somehow conjured the man out of thin air just by thinking about him. "What are you doing here?"

Summary
"Gil, come on," Malcolm says, hiding his shaking hand in his pocket. "You know I'd tell you if there was something wrong."
Gil settles himself to sit on the desk, crossing his arms. He's done nothing but get more suspicious as time has gone on, but with Malcolm's face left untouched and the rest of him covered, it's hard, impossible even, to prove anything. "And is there?"
Malcolm hesitates. Words ache to escape, burning on the tip of his tongue.
Yes. Help me.
"No," he says instead, and smiles. "There’s nothing.”

Summary
Prompt: Gil and Malcolm have sex (and please do feel free to tell us all about that happened 💦) and Malcolm expects something more to happen after that, but instead they just sort of never even talk about it. A while later, Malcolm realizes that he's pregnant and doesn't know what to do. He's terrified of telling Gil, since he (wrongly) thinks that Gil thinks being together was a mistake. He's also terrified of being a parent, but part of him wants to keep the baby. He hides it as long as he can, but during a case (probably being as reckless as usual) Malcolm gets hurt and it ultimately causes his secret to be revealed!

“You’re lucky, Malcolm. Some men like to hurt, to break. I don’t. I just want to enjoy myself. I’m not cruel.”
“No, just a murderer,” Malcolm spits out.
Conway sighs. “Dead boys can’t talk. Would you believe it's easier to cover up a murder than a rape? When you know what you’re doing, of course.”

Malcolm trusts the wrong person, and nearly ends up as the next victim in the teams latest case.

Summary
“A lead, Gil,” he repeats, then pauses. He looks up at the ceiling with his phone balanced on his palm. “Okay, so, before I tell you how I found—”
“You made a profile on that nerdy dating site,” Gil guesses without missing a beat. He throws his pen onto the paperwork spread across his desk. “Damn it, Bright, why can’t you—”
“I know, I’m sorry.” Malcolm winces, though it’s mostly a lie. There’s certainly a part of him that’s sorry—a small part taking a backseat to the rest of him that’s ready and eager to catch this guy. “But he’s very interested in meeting me for dinner two hours from now, and if he’s the killer and he’s escalating, this might be our best chance to stop him before he takes out another innocent victim.”

Summary
A part of Daryl, somewhere in the back of his mind, always found it a little bit amusing when Jesus got on his knees for him. There was something about that position that seemed almost sacrilegious. Jesus himself kneeling for a rough, grizzled, old redneck like Daryl? He had his whole zen thing going for him, sure, but he was also more than fifteen years younger than Daryl - at least - and he was the closest thing to any sort of god Daryl would ever believe in.

Summary
What if Jesus had ended up at Woodbury instead of the Hilltop? What if he met the group at the prison in season 3?
__
Paul rounded the corner to the row of cells leading to the one he’d been locked in, only to find Daryl there, in the middle of the walkway, staring at the spot Paul was supposed to be. Paul stopped and took a bite out of the cookie in his hand. It was sweet and horribly stale. Hard as a rock, it crunched loudly when it broke under the force of his teeth.
Daryl’s head whipped around and their eyes locked. Paul watched in fascination as Daryl’s expression slipped quickly from surprise to anger, his face flushing red all the way down his neck. Paul took another almost painful bite of the cookie, crunching noisily while he chewed.
“The hell’re you doin’?”
“You didn’t leave me any food. I was hungry,” Paul said, raising what remained of the cookie in explanation. “I was coming back like a good prisoner.”
“Good prisoners don’t go walkin’ around the prison stealin’ shit.”
Paul hummed in thought. “I suppose it depends on how you define a good prisoner, doesn’t it?”

Bookmarker's Notes
“How’d you get down here?”
He hadn’t seen them pass and there was no other access aside from the one hallway.
Carl grinned, pointing his rifle towards the ceiling. “Crawl space.”
“We were the only ones small enough,” Beth explained.
“Snuck up on ‘em from the other side,” Carl added. They looked at each other and grinned. But the look was cut short when the sound of another gunshot rang out, loud from the proximity and the enclosed space. He watched in horror as Beth’s body fell backwards, an arc of blood spraying from her head as she went.
Daryl fired. They all did. And the cop who’d been playing possum on the floor dropped to the ground again, this time with several new holes punched through her body. She barely had a face left at all by the time her gun clattered across the floor, the hilt of Paul’s knife protruded from her eye.
Daryl couldn’t breathe, but he could run, and he barrelled the rest of the way across the room to Beth’s body. Carl was already kneeling at her side, his face red and his eyes wet. Daryl fell to his knees. His fingers felt thick and clumsy as he reached out to cradle her head, finger searching for the wound.
“Ouch!” Beth gasped, flinching away.
“Beth?” Carl asked, reaching across her to help pull her up by her arms. Daryl supported her back as she rose from the floor and into a sitting position.
“Must’ve cracked my head real hard when I hit the ground,” she said, reaching her own hand to the back of her head and rubbing gently at it. “Stings somethin’ fierce.”
“You were shot,” Carl said.
“I’m okay,” Beth said, wrapping an arm around his shoulders. “I’m still here.”
She looked at Daryl then, fear and concern in her eyes. Carefully, so carefully, Daryl pushed her hair away from the wound, getting a better look at the damage. He let out a slow breath. Beth hissed in pain, but grit her teeth as he prodded at it, her own eyes tearing up just like Carl’s and Daryl’s own had.
“It’s just a scratch,” he said, his voice such a low rasp that it was barely audible. He grunted, clearing his throat and repeated it a little louder. “Just nicked the top of your ear. Might’ve lost a bit of skin n’ some hair, but the bone’s fine.”
Beth let out a breath.
“Head wounds always bleed a lot,” Michonne reminded gently, her hand on Carl’s shoulder.
“See? I’ll be fine,” Beth said. “A little bruised and bloodied, but that ain’t so uncommon. We got other things to worry about.”
