Sighing, Stan nods. “Yes, probably.”
“So, the odds of this happening are slim, right? I’m no mathematician but fuck! Even I know that this is crazy.” He sits down across from Stan and stares up at the ceiling, looking to the gods for some sort of answer. “The universe is out to get me,” Eddie proclaims with a frown.
“No one is out to get you,” Stan tells him gently. “You’re not kids anymore. He can’t hurt you, Eddie. And even if he does try something, he’ll be fired. You have nothing to worry about.”
“That’s easy for you to say. You don’t have Patrick Hockstetter installing new kitchen cabinets at your office!”
